Equality Act 2010

In line with the Equality Act 2010, companies are required to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ to their

services and websites to allow disabled access. Methods of providing such access for those with visual

disability could include avoidance of textured backgrounds, avoidance of underlining/italics apart from

links, provide mouse free usability (i.e. use keyboard to navigate site), use of clear readable text, good

colour contrast, avoidance of busy, moving or flashing graphics, use of scaleable fonts, use of obvious

hyperlinks (i.e. it changes colour when mouse passed over it), ensure images have an ALT tag to

explain what they are and to ensure documents used are clear and simple. We therefore recommend
